the exclusive domain of the <strong>Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited #NPCIL<\/strong> till now, \u00a0by allowing private Indian companies to build, own, and operate nuclear power plants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Features<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Private Sector Participation:<\/strong> Indian-incorporated companies and joint ventures can apply for licenses to operate nuclear reactors.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Liability Reform:<\/strong> Caps the operator\u2019s liability (ranging from \u20b9100 crore to \u20b93,000 crore based on capacity) and removes the &#8220;right of recourse&#8221; against suppliers for equipment defects.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Statutory Status for AERB:<\/strong> The <strong>Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB)<\/strong> will now have statutory status, making it a more independent and powerful watchdog for nuclear safety.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nuclear Tribunal:<\/strong> A specialized tribunal will be established to handle disputes and compensation claims, ensuring faster legal resolution.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Focus on SMRs:<\/strong> The program emphasizes <a href=\"https:\/\/axykno.com\/blogs\/category\/reactors\/\"><strong>Small Modular Reactors (SMRs)<\/strong><\/a>, with a dedicated \u20b920,000 crore mission to develop indigenous &#8220;Bharat SMRs&#8221;
