Since 2005, the Mahatma Gandhi National\u00a0Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA)<\/b> has been the backbone of India\u2019s\u00a0rural employment policy, guaranteeing 100 days of wage employment per\u00a0household. Over time, however, critics argued that while MGNREGA provided short-term\u00a0relief, it did not sufficiently contribute to durable rural infrastructure or\u00a0long-term livelihood security.<\/span><\/p>
